It was a bright and sunny day. Birds chirped as they flew with the wind’s gentle breeze. A few officers laughed in the courtyard. The garden there had many butterflies fluttering about. It smelled like strawberries and cherries as Zhang He viewed his surroundings. The other officers walked away, laughing at Zhang He’s hopeless attempts to get a butterfly to land on his finger. But, then again, the others laughing wasn’t the only hurtful thing happening on this day.
Zhang He: Oh, please, little butterfly. Don’t be frightened by me. I just want to be your friend. I wont hurt you like those other officers who left. Come’ on, please! Land on my finger.
A red, purple, and black butterfly, that Zhang He had his eyes on, lifted from a flower and in to the air. It flew swiftly and seemed as though it was coming strait to Zhang He’s finger. Zhang He smiled with excitement. As Zhang He reached out his hand, the butterfly by passed his finger and landed atop another butterfly.
Zhang He: Damn you! I just want to be your friend! Damn it!
Through Zhang He’s anger, he noticed out of all the butterflies that he saw, only one was negative colored, compared to all the others. He had only noticed it because it flew in front of his face. This butterfly flapped its way to Zhang He’s face and landed on his chin, and crawled up to his nose. Zhang He gasped at his luck.
Zhang He: Really? You’ll be my friend? Oh, wow! This is so great! I’m SO joyful! And my, aren’t you simply beautiful?
Voice: I’ll be your friend.
Zhang He gasped again.
Zhang He: You can talk?!
Voice: NO! Not the damn butterfly! ME! The girl to your right!
Zhang He turned his head right, only to find a young girl who looked about nine. Though he was more interested in the butterfly than he was the girl, he was concerned about an intruder nine-year-old girl being within the kingdom walls, but she was only about nine. What harm could she possibly do? Zhang He was polite and waved to her.
Zhang He: Well, HI! What’s your name?
When the girl didn’t answer, he went back to paying attention to the butterflies. The one on his nose lifted into the air and flew towards the other butterflies. He heard a laugh from the girl, but it was a quiet laugh. Then, in some strange matter, all the butterflies became black and fell to the ground. All were dead. Zhang He became bewildered, and devastated. He looked at the only living butterfly, the negative colored one, as it began fluttering its way to the girl.
Samara: My name is Samara, but that wont matter much.
Zhang He: Okay? What just happened to all the butterflies?
Zhang He watched the negative butterfly fly hurriedly to Samara. After flying in a circle around her, she held out her hand. The negative butterfly landed in it and samara sat down in what looked like a rocking chair behind her.
Samara: Hehe. I killed them…
Samara closed her hand and killed the negative butterfly. Zhang He began freaking out. He looked around hoping to find an answer to this insanity and this trick, but when he looked back, the girl, Samara, was gone, but the rocking chair remained. This was no trick, but where had samara gone? Zhange H could have run, and he should have, but instead he walked over to the rocking chair, slowly. In the rocking chair was the dead butterfly. Scared, Zhang He turned and tried to run., but in his way, standing before him, was Samara. She smirked and giggled.
Zhang He screamed into the day, but no one was around to hear him. For three days, no one heard of him or saw him. They sent out a search party throughout the kingdom, the village, and a twenty-mile radius beyond the village. On the forth day, would he be found?
